Pharmacological Activity of Flavonoids
Keywords:
Favonoids, Pharmacological Activity, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatoryAbstract
Flavonoids are a diverse group of polyphenolic compounds widely distributed in fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants, known for their significant pharmacological activities. These natural compounds exhibit strong antioxidant properties by scavenging free radicals and reducing oxidative stress, which plays a crucial role in preventing chronic diseases. Flavonoids also demonstrate anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting key enzymes and cytokines involved in inflammatory pathways. Additionally, they possess antimicrobial effects against a broad spectrum of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, contributing to their therapeutic potential in infectious diseases.
