Effect of a 12-Week Selected Yogic Practice Programme on Psychological Resilience among Female Defence Personnel: A Mixed-Methods Study of Coping and Wellbeing

Abstract

The role of psychological resilience has been emphasized for female defense personnel who are working in challenging occupational setting. Ability to cope up with the stress and challenges of environment, emotional management and maintain functionality may positively contribute to psychological functioning and coping.

The present study aimed to assess the impact of a selective yoga practice program on psychological resilience on female defense personnel by implementing an intervention for 12 weeks and measured the changes on pre- and post-test with control group, using a mixed-method research with semi-structured interviews in exploring coping, emotion regulation and wellbeing among female defense personnel by using yogurt practice.

This research is intended to provide an understanding of yoga's impact on psychological resilience and the participant's own experience in dealing with the yoga as coping strategy and it can be used to design similar program on yoga on psychological well-being for the military women.
