Abstract

Digital transformation is triggering growth, productivity, and improvement in numerous sectors, including the Indian banking sector. Private sector banks have introduced digital systems in nearly all domains of their banking operations, including mobile and internet banking, artificial intelligence, cloud systems, and data analytics, to improve customer service, lower costs, and boost performance. Banking efficiency and competitiveness largely depend on the optimal utilization of financial, human, and technological resources. This research analyses the impact of digital transformation, resource management, and banking efficiency in the private banking sector in India. The research is focused on the major private banks: HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and IndusInd Bank. The analysis is based on the researcher's secondary data, including published reports (banking and RBI), annual reports, and other sources of data in the public domain. This research analyzed the growth of digital transactions, the cost-to-income ratio, and return on asset and equity, as well as profit and business per employee, and digital customer outreach. The research findings showed that the banks that adopted greater digital systems had improved operational efficiency and resource optimization, lower costs of transactions, and improved financial performance. The research demonstrated that within the changing banking systems, the technology-based systems of banking have become critical to the sustenance of growth, the competitive edge, and the improved performance of banking systems. The results of the research have shown that if private banks continuously invested in systems of digital banking, skills of the employees in banking, systems of digital security, and customer-based systems of digital banking, the efficiency of private banks would improve. The research has provided practical outcomes to bankers, policy makers, financial stakeholders, and researchers who focus on the systems of digital banking.
